8 Black-Owned Tea Brands to Support

Black History Month continues, and so does my posts highlighting some of my favorite black-owned brands.

This post is focusing on small, black-owned tea brands. I’ve always loved tea, but I’ve always just grabbed boxed tea from the grocery store. I’ve recently started dipping my toes into the world of tea, and I’ve been enjoying everything I’ve been learning

Here’s a list of 8 amazing black-owned tea brands you should check out. Whether you’re looking for a boost of energy in the morning, or some much needed relaxation, you’re sure to find the perfect blend(s) for you with one of these brands.

Hella Tea is hella dope! (See what i did there? 🤣) This black woman-owned brand was founded in Oakland by Chantrelle Edwards. She merged her love of hip-hop and tea, and created a super hip tea brand with teas inspired by hip-hop culture.

This black-owned tea brand holds a place in my heart because it’s based in my second home, Philly. Oya Tea Co. teas are sourced from Africa, and were blended with health and wellness in mind.

Brooklyn Tea is a black-owned café and e-commerce tea shop in (you guessed it) Brooklyn. I’m very impressed by their online store, as there are tons of teas to choose from, and Brooklyn Tea does a great job of explaining the benefits of each tea.

Tea Please is a dessert-flavored loose leaf tea brand. All of their teas are vegan, gluten free, non-gmo, and contain zero artificial sweeteners. I enjoy this brand because they create teas to satisfy your sugar cravings. Their goal is to provide a natural way for you to satisfy your sweet tooth without indulging in unhealthy foods.

So, I’m not going to lie, what intrigued me most about MoreFya was their smoke blends. I love smoking herbal blends, as well as grinding herbal blends with my weed. It creates an elevated high experience…so a place where I can grab both drinking and smoking herbs is a go for me.

Elevated Tea Co. is a black women-owned CBD-infused tea brand. If you’re looking for natural remedy teas, this is a great brand to look into since all of their tea blends have different health benefits that are clearly listed on the online shop. This tea brand is also great for those who aren’t comfortable with loose leaf teas, or just prefer the convenience of tea bags. They encourage re-brewing and compositing.
