What’s up guys?!

I had a nice little chat with you all on Instagram Stories last week, and spoke a bit about my vision for my blog. I’m still working through the kinks, and will hopefully have it all figured out shortly.

In the meantime, as promised, here is my 2019 Skin Care Routine!

Morning Routine

1. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE | SUPERFOOD CLEANSER

I cheated on my Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and starting using this cleanser a few months ago. While I love the Soy Face Cleanser, the price point was a bit high for the amount of product in the bottle. I decided to try out this cleanser. It’s less money with more product, so I’m getting more bang for my buck. I love this cleanser because it’s vegan, sulfate-free, and cleanses my face without leaving it dry, irritated, or tight.

To cleanse my skin in the morning, I just squirt one pump onto my fingertips, lather it up, rub it on my face in circular motions, and then wash it off.

2. LANCÔME | TONIQUE CONFORT RE-HYDRATING COMFORTING TONER

This toner is exactly what it says it is; hydrating and comforting. I love applying it in the mornings because it helps me feel more awake, and helps create a nice base for my makeup. My makeup always applies better when my skin is well moisturized and hydrated; this toner does a great job of achieving this.

I allow my face to air dry after cleansing. I then apply some of this product to a cotton pad and apply it all over my face.

3. DRUNK ELEPHANT | C-FIRMA DAY SERUM

I love using this vitamin c serum in the morning because it helps combat dullness and uneven skin tone. It’s done a great job of helping brighten my skin. Using this product in the AM combined with Sunday Riley’s Good Genes in the PM has been key to combatting my dark marks.

I apply this product on my face and neck after the Lancome toner sinks into my skin. On most days, I actually apply this product with a Jade Roller. A Jade Roller helps to improve circulation in the skin which will reduce inflammation and puffiness.

4. THE ORDINARY | CAFFEINE SOLUTION

I’m always tired when I wake up; it doesn’t matter what time it is, and it doesn’t matter how much sleep I got lol. It takes me about 2 hours to fully wake up. Unfortunately, I never have two hours to spare to get my life together, so I use this caffeine-based serum under my eyes as a pick-me-up. Not only does it instantly make me feel more awake, but it also helps with depuffing, and has reduced the appearance of my dark circles overtime.

I apply this product under my eyes, and use my Jade Roller to rub the product into my skin. The roller also aids in depuffing the under-eye which is much needed in the morning.

5. CLINIQUE | MOISTURE SURGE INTENSE SKIN FORTIFYING HYDRATOR

I've written about this moisturizer in my August Beauty Favorites post, and I still have great things to say about it! I'm on my second jar now, and I'll definitely keep purchasing. It's. So. Moisturizing! & I just love the fact that it's so light and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin

I apply this moisturizer on my face and neck after my serums have had a minute to sink into my skin.

6. SUPERGOOP | UNSEEN SUNSCREEN

I cannot stress this enough: wear sunscreen! Wear it every single day. Wear sunscreen during the summer, and wear it during the winter. When you wakeup in the morning, please put on sunscreen. Do I need to say this again to get it programmed in your head? lol. The sun can damage your skin if you don’t protect it. It can cause sun spots, and enhance the darkness of your hyperpigmentation. Your skin care routine won’t be as effective if you’re exposing your skin to the sun everyday. I love this sunscreen because it’s light and doesn’t make me look ashy like a typical sunscreen.

I apply this sunscreen right after I moisturize my skin in the morning.

Nighttime Routine

1. SIMPLE | MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER

I do a double cleanse on days when I wear makeup or if I had a long day in which sweat or dirt may have built up on my face. (I.E. hot summer days, gym days, ect.) I love using micellar water to remove makeup because it’s not as heavy or as messy as an oil and does a much better job than a traditional makeup wipe. Oil-based makeup removers also temporarily blind my vision which is mad annoying lol.

I just pour some of the micellar water on a cotton pad and remove all of my makeup. This is usually efficient enough to remove waterproof makeup too, but if not, I just follow-up with Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remove to remove stubborn eyeliner and mascara.

2. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE | SUPERFOOD CLEANSER

This is the same cleanser I use in the morning! The only difference is the way I apply it. In the night, I squirt one pump onto my Michael Todd Soniclear Petite and clean one-side of my face, and then I do the same for the other side. The Soniclear is pretty cool because it has different speed settings (I usually use low), and has an antimicrobial brush head that doesn’t need to be changed super often. I use the Soniclear every night during the colder months because my skin is more on the drier side during this time. It does a good job of combating flakes and keeping my skin smooth and texture-free. During the summer, I typically just wash my face with my hands, unless I went in on my makeup that day (lol) and I’m trying to get a deeper clean.

3. BLUME | MELTDOWN

I work in social media for a living, so getting me to purchase from a social media advertisement is a bit tough lol, however, I got served an IG story ad for this product and decided to try it out. I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Not only does it shrink active acne, and prevent pimples from blowing up, it’s also a great preventative treatment in general. I use this product every night whether I have active breakouts on my face or not, and I’ve noticed a huge reduction in the amount of breakouts I’ve gotten since. This product stops acne before it even sees the light of day and is filled with good-for-your-skin ingredients. It is an oil-based product, so it keeps your face moisturized unlike typical acne treatments that dry tf out of your skin.

I typically let my face air dry after cleansing, and then apply a small amount of the Meltdown on my problem areas. Super quick and easy!

4. SUNDAY RILEY | GOOD GENES ALL-IN-ONE LACTIC ACID TREATMENT

Oh, good ol’ Good Genes. You cost so much, yet work so well. My biggest skin insecurity is my hyperpigmentation. My skin is super prone to getting dark spots, so I’ll likely always have to have a skin care regimen geared towards fighting them. I’ve been using Good Genes for about a year now, and have nothing but good things to say about it. It’s a chemical exfoliator that quickly gets rid of dead skin cells to reveal clearer, brighter skin. I’ve been using it to target my dark spots, and they’ve definitely lightened up over time. I have old, stubborn dark spots, so I don’t expect them all to disappear overnight, but this product has worked the best and has worked faster than any other product I’ve tried so far.

I use Good Genes about 3x a week before I apply my moisturizer. I’ve tested out using it every night, but found that to be a bit too irritating for my skin, so I settled on an every other day cadence.

5. CLINIQUE | MOISTURE SURGE INTENSE SKIN FORTIFYING HYDRATOR

This is the same moisturizer I use in the morning. At nights, I apply it after my cleansers and serums, and wake up with buttery soft skin.

6. THE ORDINARY | 100% COLD PRESSED VIRGIN MARULA OIL

I’m a huge fan of virgin marula oil. It’s light on the skin, locks in moisture, and leaves your skin feeling super soft. I used up a sample of Drunk Elephant’s virgin marula oil, and went on a hunt for a cheaper version. I landed on The Ordinary’s and haven’t looked back since!

I mix this oil in with my moisturizer on days where my skin needs a bit more hydration.
